How
do we Deliver the Learning?
Logistics Learning Alliance can deliver learning by:
- Supported Self-Study
- Tutorials/Workshops
- A blend of both of the above
- e-Learning
Supported Self Study
Supported Self-Study is ideal for individuals wishing
to enhance their career by adopting a strategy of Continuing Professional
Development. Distance learners will have access to SCILworld (a
simulated business environment, on CD-ROM) and a specialist coach
who will provide strong support and guidance throughout the learning
experience. This method of learning can also be underpinned by workshops
in the form of pre and post course work.
Benefits
- Little and often.
Learning is broken down into weekly digestible chunks (typically
of anything from two to five hours duration), avoiding the demotivating
impact of intimidating backlogs of work (often the case with traditional
forms of distance learning) and enabling learners to gradually
integrate the techniques learned into their normal working pattern.
- Coaching. Learners
will have access to a specialist coach, who, while challenging
the learner’s thinking will provide solid support and guidance
making the loneliness of the long distance learner a thing of
the past.
- Motivation.
Unlike traditional learning methods, initial enthusiasm and momentum
is supported and maintained throughout the course.
- Deadlines. Each
learning module is deadline driven, maintaining the learner’s
focus on the immediate task in hand and keeping their studies
on track
- Flexibility.
The system allows learners to study where they need to and when
they need to, using e-learning echnology to support the learning
process.
- Enjoyable. Our
systems provide a distance learning route that is an enjoyable
exciting and stimulating interactive process where the student
can satisfy their personal learning needs
Tutorials/Workshops
Workshops and Tutorials provide an ideal opportunity
to improve supply chain performance within an organisation. They
can be developed to reflect the operation, issues and culture of
any company and can be focused on developing the skills required
to achieve the supply chain performance the organisation requires.
Led by a coach, the courses will utilise the SCILworld learning
system allowing participants the opportunity to apply their learning
immediately, within the simulated environment. SCILworld can also
be used for pre and post work. As it is becoming increasingly recognised
that a supply chain extends far beyond the immediate environment
of a company, powerful collaborative events involving suppliers
and/or customers can be organised.
Benefits of workshops and tutorials include:
- Issue Focused.
Specific performance issues can be addressed, reflecting the broader
context of the business.
- Team Building.
An event where delegates can share experience and best practice
can only strengthen the company team ethic
- Timing. Courses
can be scheduled to minimise impact on the operation
- Delegate Specific.
Courses can be tailored to reflect the academic level of the group
- No interruptions.
Venues can be arranged at remote locations, facilitating uninterrupted
study
- Personalised.
Enables individuals to address their personal skill gaps
- Participative.
Our interactive approach to learning ensures that everyone in
the room contributes.
e-Learning
Supply Chain Learning Centre
The e-Learning approach utilises the Supply Chain
Learning Centre which is a unique on line learning resource which
will enable you and your team to develop and test your supply chain
knowledge.
Details of available courses can be seen on our homepage
with each course guiding the learner through the learning points
and then allowing them to check their understanding by answering
a series of questions.
As with most Logistics Learning Alliance training,
the questions are related to a simulated case study. In order to
answer the questions, the learner must familiarise themselves with
the fictitious company in the case study and apply their supply
chain knowledge to the case study situation.
In this way, the learner is better able to understand
how to apply their supply chain knowledge in your business and to
contribute to the improvement of your supply chain performance.
Driver Training Programme
Failure to comply with the rigours of the transport
operators’ licensing regulations can result in the removal
of the operator’s licence leading to catastrophic consequences
for any company with a distribution operation. The Health and Safety
Executive has set out clear guidelines in its ‘Driving at
Work’ document and organisations who have a vehicle involved
in an accident resulting in a fatality or a serious injury will
be expected to produce documentary evidence of their management
of transport risk.
Developed
in conjunction with the Freight Transport Association, the Driver
Training Programme ensures that your drivers know what they have
to do to protect your Operator’s Licence, vehicles and their
own driving licences. In addition the programme will provide computerised
documentary evidence of the competence of each driver in each competency
area. The modular programme covers such topics as:
- Drivers’ hours regulations
- Roadworthiness and daily maintenance responsibilities
- Tachograph responsibilities
- Driving Offences
- Environmental responsibilities
- Defensive driving
- Road Safety
The programme is educational, interactive, and stimulating
and will help protect your workforce and the public as well as keeping
your vehicles safe and your transport operation firmly on the right
side of the law.
