Warehousing plays a vital role in providing the desired level of service to the customer at the lowest possible cost and is an important link between the producer and the customer. Improving the flow of goods through a warehouse by minimising handling and movement can generate significant and measurable business benefits. The purpose of this course is to provide an understanding of how these benefits can be realised.
Who should participate? The Warehouse Discovery course is intended for personnel working within warehousing or providing non logistics support to a warehouse or distribution centre who would benefit from an overview of the concept and process as well as a view of current best practice.
What will they learn? Participants will complete the programme having explored definitions of the role of warehousing within the supply chain and why it is important. They will also gain an appreciation of the mechanics of the warehouse, how it works and the measures that can be taken to improve the operation.
